Prof. Li-Tzong Chen, is currently the Chair Professor of Internal Medicine, College of Medicine and Centre for Cancer Research, Kaohsiung Medical University, Kaohsiung, Taiwan, and Emeritus Investigator of National Health Research Institutes in Taiwan (2025.08~present). He was also the Director of National Institute of Cancer Research (2014-2021) and the President of Taiwan Oncology Society (2019-2021).

 

He received his M.D degree and Ph.D. degree from Kaohsiung Medical University, Kaohsiung, Taiwan, in 1982 and 2001, respectively. He completed his gastroenterology training in Kaohsiung Medical University Hospital, and medical oncology training in a National Medical Oncology Fellow Program in Academia Sinica, Taiwan, in 1990. As a qualified gastroenterologist and oncologist, he focuses his interests on the development of innovative treatment strategies for prevalent gastrointestinal tract cancers in Taiwan through conducting investigator-initiated clinical trials and trial-related translational research. He is also highly experienced in drug development and has served as a member of the Steering Committee or Data and Safety Monitoring Committee (DSMC) in several international clinical trials.
